Bockwurst, known for its snappy casing and juicy, finely ground pork filling, seasoned with garlic and pepper. It’s naturally wood-smoked, delivering a gentle smoky flavour. Bockwurst are great for classic hot dogs, or a heart-warming dinner when served with mashed potato and sauerkraut. 

Recommended cooking instructions:

Simmer: gently cook whole in simmering water until the sausage is plump and hot internally

Grill: slice and grill for crispy and delicious sausage pieces

Bockwurst with Cider Braised Cabbage and Bacon

Ingredients:
• Unsalted butter – 50g
• Götzinger American Rindless Bacon (cut into 1cm pieces) – 200g
• Red cabbage (roughly sliced) – 400g
• Apple cider – 750ml
• Apple cider vinegar – 125ml
• Salt – to season
• Cracked black pepper – to season
• Götzinger Bockwurst – 400g
• Mashed potato – to serve

Method:
1. Melt the butter in a large pot then add the bacon, cook until slightly crispy.
2. Add the cabbage to the pot, followed by the apple cider and apple cider vinegar.
3. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Put the lid on and allow to cook on a medium heat for 15 minutes until the cabbage is soft.
5. Remove the lid for 30 minutes and reduce the liquid.
6. Fill another pot with water, and bring to a simmer.
7. Put the Bockwurst into the pot and simmer for approx. 5-10 minutes.
8. Remove the Bockwurst from the water and slice into 2cm thick pieces.
9. Serve the braised cabbage and Bockwurst on a bed of mashed potato.

We also offer free pickup at any Super Butcher store from Tuesday to Saturday.

Our online delivery orders are packed neatly in a thick cardboard box with an insulated liner, complete with plenty of gel ice packs - all of which are soft plastics recyclable, and delivered fresh via refrigerated couriers. This box can keep your order cool for up to 4 hours after delivery.
